Welcome to the website of Sustainable Edale, a charity based in Edale, Derbyshire that aims to encourage ethical and sustainable living for both residents and visitors to the area.
Edale is situated in the Peak District National Park and is probably most famous for being the start of the Pennine Way footpath as well as sitting in the shadows of Kinder Scout, the scene of the mass trepass in 1932. The village and surrounding area is a very popular tourist destination all year round with thousands of people visiting to go walking, hang gliding and paragliding, climbing or just simply to enjoy the scenery.
Sustainable Edale was established to encourage sustainable and ethical living and development within the local area. Several small groups were formed to investigate and promote different aspects of sustainable living including food, local transport and energy usage and generation.
The aim of this website is to promote the constitution of Sustainable Edale and provide help, advice and information for local residents and visitors to the area as well as promoting discussion and debate on local issues.
